Dear soccer friends,
Two of Space City Futbol Club soccer families were involved in a terrible car accident this past Sunday morning on their way to a match at Lindsey Lyons. We are very thankful that all survived the crash. These two families have players on the SCFC 96B team.
The Peña’s and Hernandez’s were riding together in the Peña family van when at the intersection of Beltway 8 and Wilson Rd, collided with another vehicle. All passengers sustained various levels of injury from the impact and the youngest passenger, Miguel Hernandez, age 3, was ejected from the van and landed on the street. Miguel was taken by life-flight to Memorial Herman. Mrs. Hernandez, along with her son Francisco Hernandez age 12, was transported by ambulance to Memorial Hermann. Mr. and Mrs. Peña, Victor Peña age 14, and Luis Peña age 12, were all transported by ambulance to LBJ Hospital.
As of Tuesday afternoon all have been released from the hospital. Now comes the difficult recovery phase both physically and financially.
Accounts for each family have been set up to accept donations to assist the families with medical, pharmacy, and other related expenses. Donations to the
Peña Family Benefit and
Hernandez Family Benefit accounts are being accepted, beginning Monday, March 17th at all
Amegy Bank locations. Your generosity, prayers, and well wishes will be greatly appreciated.
As soccer families, we spend a lot of time on the road driving to practice and games. Events like these are a sharp reminder of how precious life is and how vulnerable any one of us can become in just the blink of an eye.
